Moving a loved one is often more complicated than a regular move. Decisions about what stays and what goes, downsizing, and family members trying to help, sometimes from across the country. Auburn Moving has been working in Sacramento, Placer, El Dorado, and Nevada Counties for over 20 years, and we’ve found that the moving part is often the easiest part.
That’s ok. Most Senior moves involve moving into a smaller space, which means decisions about what to keep and what to pass on. Our estimators walk through the home with you and can give you an honest assessment about what will fit and what will not, and our crews are experienced in working around partial moves if some things stay and others need to go. We won’t rush you out of the home you’ve been living in for the last 30 years.
Much like moving into an apartment complex, Senior communities often come with their own rules. Elevators need a reservation, designated loading areas, assigned hours, and facility coordination. They also come with other rules, often requiring a certificate of insurance before movers can set foot in the building.
We handle that coordination regularly, and are more than happy to talk out the plan with you in advance. Bring it up to your estimator so we can help point in the most helpful direction.
Sometimes the new place is not ready when the old one has to be empty. A unit is being turned over, a family home is closing, or the decision about where to go next has not been made yet.
Our storage facility in Roseville can hold everything in the meantime. The same crew that packs and loads the home brings it into storage and delivers it when you are ready, whether that is a few days or several months. You only arrange the move once, and you are working with one company rather than coordinating a mover, a storage unit, and a second move later.
We can pack as much or as little as you want. For a lot of senior moves, families ask us to handle all of it, and that usually makes the day go more smoothly for everyone.
We do not just leave boxes at the door either. Our crews will place furniture where you want it and can unpack and set things up so the new place feels like home the first night rather than the first week. For families who live out of the area and cannot be there in person, this matters more than almost anything else we do.
A good number of the senior moves we handle are arranged by an adult child who lives somewhere else. We are used to that. We can do the walkthrough and estimate with whoever is local, keep you updated by phone or email throughout, and make sure nothing is decided without the family knowing about it.
